The government of Buenos Aires has mobilized resources for flood relief in Bahia Blanca, coordinating evacuation and support for affected residents after extreme rainfall.


Emergency Response Activated in Bahia Blanca

Governor Axel Kicillof from La Plata has led an inter-ministerial emergency committee to coordinate the response to the extreme storm that affected Bahía Blanca, in the province of Buenos Aires. The areas of Security, Community Development, Health, and Transportation sent reinforcements to assist those affected. A total of 44 rescuers, eight Civil Defense agents, six vessels, three cargo trucks, and two helicopters are on alert.

Regarding the resources sent by the Province, the Ministry of Security deployed 44 specialized personnel in rescue and disaster safety, among other teams. The Ministry of Community Development activated the Community Response Table and sent essential items, while the Ministry of Health coordinated the evacuation of a hospital affected by flooding.

OPISU is preparing to intervene in drainage and cleaning tasks once the water level decreases. ABSA provided tank trucks and distributed water in packages, and the provincial road authority has preemptively closed some routes. EDES cut off the electricity supply as a precaution.

Different agencies are working together to assist those affected by the heavy rains. The Ministry of Infrastructure, local authorities, and public service companies are collaborating to restore normalcy in the region and provide necessary assistance to the affected population.
